Police were called to the 31st Street and Grays Ferry Avenue station around 5 p.m. on April 30, the department told Daily Voice. The child was rushed by ambulance to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he was placed in "critical but stable condition," they said.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred on the 1500 block of South Taney Street, about a mile southeast of the fire station.

Detectives said they found evidence that suggests the shooting took place inside a residence on the block, "not out on the street," but added that no arrests have been made and no weapon has been recovered.

The incident remains under investigation, Philadelphia police said.
